Students in grades 6-12 are invited to enter an art contest sponsored by the North Webster Community Public Library and the Syracuse Public Library. Submissions can be made at either library and are due no later than Saturday, January 13. Prizes will be awarded to the winners, with 1st place receiving a $100 gift card. Students do not need a library card to participate. Full rules and information are listed below.

"ADVENTURE"
Teen Art Contest Rules & Information
- The contest is open to any young adult from grades 6-12. Contestants do not have to be library members.
- Contest theme: "Adventure."
- All entries must be submitted in person on or before 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, with a completed entry form and artist's statement, both of which are included in this packet, at either Syracuse or North Webster Libraries.
- Art will be displayed at an Open House on Friday, Jan. 26, from 6-8 p.m. at the North Webster Library; all artists are encouraged to attend and bring their family & friends!
- All pieces will be on display at the North Webster Library from January 27-February 10 and at the Syracuse Library Feb 12th-Feb. 24th. All participants can pick up their art starting Feb. 26th at the library they marked as their “home library” on the entry form.
- Winners in each age range will receive a gift card.
- Submitted art should relate in some way to the theme: "Adventure"
- Submitted art MUST be in a physical form (sculpture, painting, drawing, print, etc. NO DIGITAL SUBMISSIONS).
- No nudity or obscenity in artwork–if this is included, the library has the right to remove the piece from the competition.
- Artwork should be framed in 2-D and practical for a public space. Please avoid submitting items that are too fragile, sharp, or small to be safe in such an environment. Submissions must be able to fit through the door.
- Artists will be separated into one to three categories for judging based on grade and number of submissions
- What does adventure look like to you?
- Have you ever been on an adventure, if so, what was it?
- If you could experience any adventure, what would it be?
- Does adventure have to be a physical activity like climbing a mountain, or can it be something else?
- What is your favorite adventure story? Why is it your favorite?
- How does your artwork depict your answers to the above questions?
- What kind of artistic techniques (color, texture, pattern, shape, etc.) did you decide to use and why?
