The Olde House is proud to be a family owned and operated business. They offer primitive and country décor, seasonal décor, candles, cabinets, and more. They have also added a bakery to this primitive shop.

Memory Park

Memory Park is a small park that was established through the Indiana Brownstone Program. It is a great place to bring the kids to feed the fish in Naomi’s Pond or take a lunch break outside. Several small weddings have been performed in the gazebo, and it is a great place to host events. In 2018, a monument was made and paid for by veteran’s families and the Town of Silver Lake to pay tribute to those who have lived in Silver Lake and have served our Country. There is also a memory brick pad that families have purchased for their family to memorialize their growing up here or their contributions to the town. In 2010, a time capsule was placed on the property for future generations to one day dig up and look back on the past.

Not only does Whetstone Wooodenware sell products in their hometown retail shop in Silver Lake, IN, but they also sell products all over the world and work with some of the largest living history museums in the US crafting historical reproductions. Their skilled craftsmen carry on the Whetstone Woodenware family legacy with pride.

Wildwood Nature Preserve

Wildwood Nature Preserve has a small pond surrounded by forest, vernal pools scattered beneath the trees, a pine planting, numerous wetlands and a prairie. There are oak and hickory and many more species of trees as well as numerous species of wildflowers. Various birds can be seen at Wildwood, from wood ducks on the pond, to several species of woodpeckers in the woods, including red-headed and pileated. The variety of terrain provides habitats for a wide cross section of local wildlife. It is managed by Acres Land Trust and is open daily from dawn to dusk. It covers 235.5 acres of land, and the trail length is 4.5 miles.
